The Monuments of Shikaqar Qaraglukh: The Cemetery of “Kalin Khut”

The monument is located 2 kilometers west of Parukh village in Askeran region (Fig. 1).

In the cemetery area, numerous tombstones built of plain, unpolished flagstones, as well as fragments of khachkars, regularly crafted cradle-shaped tombstones, have been preserved (Figs. 2,3,4). A complete 13th-century khachkar leaning against a tree stands out in the cemetery's center (Fig. 5). It has a broad cornice with woven sculptures.

The sculpture located beneath both sides of the cross aisle depicts a "family portrait," which is also one of the main themes of Artsakh's khachkar art.
