About the “We Exist” Educational and Cultural Event
Today, when Artsakh has been completely emptied of its Armenian population, the creation of communities and their unification around Artsakh memories, dreams, and goals is one of the best ways to contribute to the revival of a lost culture.
One such initiative was the “We Exist” educational and cultural event held on 18 January at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, organized through the cooperation of the “Artsakh Culture Preservation Center” NGO and the “Munk” Technoschool.
The event consisted of two parts: an exhibition-sale and a concert. Various individuals, groups, and organizations—some of whom had begun their work while still in Artsakh, and others after displacement—presented Artsakh’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage, ranging from historical and cultural monuments to cuisine and dialect.
Through photographs, cutting-edge technologies, and children’s creative works, the exhibition brought together past and present.
The Armenian Cultural Heritage Institute, established by TUMO in 2026, presented its programme for the digitization of Artsakh’s cultural heritage. Through this programme, approximately 80 monuments of Artsakh have been digitized. During the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to “be” in Artsakh through virtual reality.
The Genesis Armenia think tank/foundation presented maps of the monasteries, churches, fortresses, and castles of the Republic of Artsakh.
Today, these monuments—along with various urban scenes and landscapes—have found their place in the drawings of Artsakh’s children, in products created by different entrepreneurs, and in clothing and jewelry.
In the second part of the event, concert performances were delivered by Artsakh ensembles and individual artists, as well as groups and musicians from Armenia who have consistently visited Artsakh, come to know and befriend its people, and contributed to the development and dissemination of cultural life in Artsakh.
