Regarding the construction of a mosque in Berdzor

On August 29, 2024, reports circulated in the Armenian media that Azerbaijani authorities were constructing a mosque on the site of the Surb Hambardzum Church in Berdzor, Artsakh, which was destroyed by the occupying regime (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_vSnF1yFtI).

An analysis of satellite images conducted by the "Monitoring of Artsakh Cultural Heritage" team has revealed that the mosque in occupied Berdzor is not being constructed on the site of the Surb Hambardzum Church, which was deliberately destroyed by Azerbaijani authorities. Instead, the mosque is being built in a location nearby, and its construction commenced prior to the demolition of the church (Fig. 1).
