Details. Dadivank monastery, Holy see church, north wall, stoning of Saint Stephen and Christ’s message to the angels.

Dadivank monastery, Holy see church, north wall, stoning of Saint Stephen and Christ's message to the angels, late 13th century.
Of course, it is impossible to understand what the angels are doing in the scene of the stoning of Stephen without a strong knowledge in old Armenian.
As the Armenian inscription shows, the Armenian artist introduced in the composition the theme of angels, whose role he explained in the attached inscription.
"Angels, see (those) earthly beings who suffered for me in the flesh."
In other words, Christ gives a message to the angels to see (which also means to remember and act) those who suffer in the flesh for Christ.
Do they know all this, those who declare Dadivank monastery the Albanian-Udi heritage? Of course no. But it doesn't matter to them.
